JOURNAL #4

Today, my cousin, invited me to go to his house. Her house is just a few blocks away from our house. I asked her, “Why? What’s the celebration about?” She just said, “There is no celebration but just come here and you’ll see.” Then she turn off her phone already. I am not going to go to her house without knowing why I have to. I began to look for answers and find evidences leading to answer my questions. I asked my mother what is going on in my cousins house, but she just replied, “I don’t know.” I asked and asked the people in our house the same questions I have asked but they really don’t know. Just then, our helper in the house shouted, “Puppies! They are very adorable!”. I looked for her and found her in our gate with my cousin holding 2 cute brown and white puppies. Just then, my cousin said, “I know you are not going to my house for no reason that’s why I just brought my surprise for you.” And there, the answer to my question was finally unlocked.

JOURNAL #3

Today, I saw a strange thing in my room. I looked at it closely and asked myself, “who is the owner of this thing?”. As I go out of my room, I asked our helper in our house what i have asked to myself awhile ago, and she said she don’t know. Then I remembered that I have the same kind of thing which I owned but of different color. I began to look for it and keep on recalling where I put it. Things keep on bugging in my mind like, “This the one i owned before or this is a new one?” i said to myself. Just then, my little sister approached me and said, “Ate, look at your rubber ball. I painted it blue for you.” Just then, i realized and concluded that the red rubber ball which I owned before was the strange thing in my room which my sister painted into blue.

He do his job well with a good relationship with his co-workers. He is a policeman who do his job with humility and respect to his officemates.

As a father, he is also a modern day hero. He is a loving, generous and supportive father.  He corrects his children whenever they commit mistakes. With his love for his family and his loyalty to his job, we can consider him as MODERN DAY HERO today.

Journal Entry #2

Today, we had the planning for the infomercial. We we’re so distressed knowing and observing that we we’re the only group that didn’t seemed to come up with any good plan. We didn’t even have the script nor the topic. This day doesn’t seem to work out. That’s why we really need to do the script by ourselves.

Journal Entry #1

The puppet show is scheduled this week and we are very nervous because we observed that we we’re the only group who didn’t have any box. And still we have to rush the puppets because we need to have a puppet that can be turned for the story had a part where the two main characters of the story ran. I was so eager to have a good output that I even printed 20 copies of the script. I was so happy because the members participated really well that made our presentation really good.

OUR MODERN DAY HERO

OUR MODERN DAY HERO

PURPOSE:

We chose Nilda Malto Ramirez for this project “MODERN DAY HERO”. But first you should know her personally. She is a teacher in Tagas Elementary School. She served the school for 7 years. She is an adviser of Grade IV-B (Hetero Class). She is now 57 years of age. Her date of birth is January 25, 1954. She lives in Purok 4, Tagas, Daraga, Albay. Her husband’s name is Badong M. Ramirez, a retired Navy soldier. They have 4 children, namely Bryan M. Ramirez, Gerald M. Ramirez, Shanil M. Ramirez and Maynil M. Ramirez. Her experience in work was so difficult because she kept on transferring schools, being a substitute to a permanent teacher.

We should further know more about her history. When she was picking her co0uorse, she told us it was “no choice” to the course because she was not good at anything but when she kept transferring schools, her abilities kept improving than before. But before that you must know the schools she was transferred from substitute to permanent.

           Substitute:

Taloto Elementary School Camalig South District from yrs. 1976-1977

Matnog Elementary School Daraga North District from yrs. 1980-1981

Cabraran Grande Oviliar District (only 2 months)

         Permanent:

Nagutgot Elementary School from yrs. 1992-1994 (2 years)

Manito Central School from yrs. 1994-2004 (10 years)

Tagas Elementary School from yrs. 2005-present

What’s the Interview All about?!

We asked her “How do you feel being a teacher? Are you happy with your job? Would you kindly explain?” She told us it was pretty difficult being a teacher, and she’s only a little happy about her job because it was no choice for her and she got used to the job (trans.: nasanay na sa trabaho).

We asked about her sad and happy unforgettable experiences during her early years of teaching. She told us her sad experience because she was just lucky, when they were going home from Manito, there was a landslide occurred. In that time, they ride jeep but they walk with their feet carrying their sandals because the jeep can’t surely across the road (it is already wash-out because of the landslide). Another is when she was transferred in a Central School (she can’t remember). She was assigned to teach the slow learners and repeaters (Grade 1). She did her really best to just let her students learn. All of her vacant periods were consumed to just teach her students. She was really focused on her students and always prepares some “visual materials” like Marungku.

Her happy experiences were when they were assigned to help and attend community affairs, government activities, occasions, etc.

She has a lot of sacrifices during her early years of teaching. One of it was her financial expenses like pamasahe and tuition problems of Bryan in college.

In dealing with the student’s parents, she first monitors the students with problems and then calls the parents of the students and have a meeting. She let the parents know the problems and ask them to monitor too their children. They were asked to monitor for them to have a follow-up too late, their children would learn more. What’s the good thing is her pupils are all open to her so they can really tell her their problems.

When we asked “Is teaching a very recommendable course for new generations?” she was sad that time because for her it’s NO. She thinks that at this time, teaching students are tough. She gives all her best in teaching. One of her students wants to be a teacher too, of course, she recommend it because she really has skills. For her, it was based on the student’s skills.

What other things that can be shared? MANY like how hard is she teaching to get an outstanding award in Tagas Elementary School. She was an outstanding teacher because she was always doing her journal (the principal’s requirements), having games or group activities, visual materials and best at speaking in English. Some of her students won the Poster Making Contest – champion in districts only (Grade 4), in taekwondo – champion in districts & divisions and he/she was “in” in the regionals but have no award (Grade 5) and in the Science Fair & Quiz (making a science song with a duet) won champion in district and 3rd place in the divisions (Grade 5 & 6). She is happy about because her students won such a contest.

The last question was interesting. “In all that’s happened career, what can you say?” she answered us that she have done it pretty well and given all that there is to give to the students and that she truly care for the students.
